Does anyone else have an inner version of themselves that they keep under lock and key, hidden away, within yourself. She’s the most precious and gentle me that exists. She’s soft and sad and sweet.
It’s not an inner child, because even as I child I was grown. I’ve been an adult for too many decades to remember 4 year old me. I look at pictures and she is just as mad then as I am now. And I get it.
The inside me is the only one that can judge me, because she’s perfect and she is me. She’s can face me, the mister. The strong one, the person who can speak up and confront things.
I’m the monster on the outside and that’s okay. And she’s the inside that likes sappy songs and romantic books. She’s the artist but I’m the art. Neither of us complete on its own.
